Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Lead Wheel Vehicle Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisor, performs the full range of repair and modification work on heavy/light wheeled equipment and vehicles tactical and non-tactical.  Must have air conditioning and heat repair experience and certification through ASE or equivalent training with an accredited program.  Responsible for troubleshooting and repair work on suspensions, engines, frames, transfers, transmissions, differentials, fuel and pneumatic systems, steering mechanisms and turbo chargers. Services the A/C and heat pump units  in automobiles (or wheeled vehicles). Installs and repairs wheeled vehicle refrigeration systems according to specifications. Repairs or replaces malfunctioned/defective HVAC's equipment, electrical components or wiring. Ability to operate Freon recovery/recycle equipment. Repairs compression ignition air induction systems. Reassembles and tests vehicle A/C systems following repairs. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.

Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent preferred.   

Experience: 7 - 10 years experience in heavy equipment maintenance, must have driver's license

Specialized Knowledge Required: USMilitary School-trained (MOS 63W/S) or equivalent training. Must provide proof of certification through ASE or equivalent training with an accredited program. Must have ASE A/C Certification 609. 

Requirements: Pass background investigation, drug test, and medical exam. MUST HAVE HONORABLE DISCHARGE

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 25 Lbs. continuously, 50 Lbs intermittently. Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.  Must be able to work overhead for extended periods. Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during an 84 hour work week.
